2026 A/L Examination to Be Held as Scheduled on August 10

June 22, 2026

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced that the 2026 General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Advanced Level Examination will be conducted as scheduled on August 10, rejecting requests from various parties seeking a further postponement.

In an official statement, the Ministry said that the National Institute of Education’s Teacher’s Guides stipulate that approximately 300 school days are required to adequately complete the Advanced Level curriculum.

According to the Ministry, students sitting for the 2026 A/L examination will have received 343 school days of instruction from the commencement of academic activities up to August 7, 2026, exceeding the minimum requirement for syllabus completion.

The Ministry further noted that candidates appearing for the examination for a second or third attempt will have had a period of four months and ten days between the release of the previous examination results and the scheduled date of the upcoming examination.

Based on these factors, the Ministry concluded that sufficient time has been provided for candidates to complete their studies and prepare adequately for the examination.

Accordingly, the Ministry emphasized that there is no necessity to revise the examination timetable or postpone the examination dates.

The statement, issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, reaffirmed that the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination will proceed as planned on August 10 in accordance with the academic calendar.

The Ministry also urged schools, teachers, parents, and students to continue their preparations and ensure that all remaining academic activities are completed within the scheduled timeframe.
