The Appropriation Bill for the year 2027 has been published in the Gazette, setting out the Government’s estimated expenditure for the upcoming financial year.
Cabinet approval for the Bill was recently granted, and it was gazetted yesterday (21).
Accordingly, the Government’s total estimated expenditure for 2027 has been set at Rs. 4,992,773,388,000.
The first reading of the 2027 Appropriation Bill is scheduled for October 7, 2026, while the second reading, or Budget Speech, is scheduled for November 12, 2026.
The second reading debate will be held from November 13 to 20, followed by the Committee Stage debate from November 21 to December 14, 2026.
