24-Hour Water Cut Announced in Several Areas for Essential Maintenance Work

June 23, 2026

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 24-hour water supply interruption in several areas due to essential maintenance work on the main water supply pipeline from Labugama and Kalatuwawa to Maharagama.

According to the NWSDB, the affected areas include Galagedara, Homagama, Kottawa, Pannipitiya, Pelenwatte, and Maharagama.

The water supply to these areas will be suspended from 6.00 p.m. on June 24 until 6.00 p.m. on June 25.

The NWSDB stated that the interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance work on the main transmission pipeline and ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of the water distribution system.

The Board expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to consumers and requested the public to make necessary arrangements in advance.

Residents, businesses, and institutions in the affected areas are advised to store an adequate supply of water and use it sparingly during the maintenance period.

The NWSDB further stated that normal water supply services will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
