26-Year-Old Sentenced to Life for Smuggling Heroin into Prison

The suspect was arrested on December 4, 2019, by prison intelligence officers. He had hidden the heroin in a false bottom of a food container used to deliver meals to an inmate at the Colombo Remand Prison.

Following the arrest, the Attorney General filed charges against the defendant for possession and trafficking of heroin, leading to today’s conviction.
