The Indian owner of the Lanka T10 Super League team Galle Marvels, who was arrested yesterday (12) on match-fixing charges, has been remanded until December 16 after being presented before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (13).
Prem Thakkar, an Indian national and owner of the Galle Marvels team, was taken into custody by Sri Lankan police on Thursday at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, where the league is currently underway.
Police confirmed that Thakkar is the owner of the Galle Marvels, one of the six competing teams in the tournament.
The arrest followed a complaint by a West Indies player on the Galle Marvels team, who rejected a match-fixing proposal and reported the incident to the authorities.
