A 120 MW wind power plant is set to be constructed in Sampur with financial assistance from India. The project will be a joint initiative between the Central Electricity Authority of India and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, Professor Udayanga Hemapala, stated that the agreement will be signed following President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s official visit to India, scheduled from 15–17 December.
This visit, which comes at the invitation of the President of India, marks President Dissanayake’s first overseas trip since assuming office.
