The Meteorology Department reports that the low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal is currently located to the east of Sri Lanka and is expected to gradually move west-northwestwards.
Rainfall Forecast:
- Northern and North-Central Provinces and the Trincomalee District: Several spells of showers.
- Uva and Central Provinces, and Ratnapura, Batticaloa, Ampara, and Hambantota Districts: Showers or thundershowers in the evening or night.
- North-Western and Western Provinces: A few morning showers likely.
Wind Advisory:
Fairly strong winds of 30-40 km/h are expected at times in Northern and North-Central Provinces and the Trincomalee District.
The public is advised to take precautions to minimize damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
