The Government of India has committed financial assistance of Sri Lankan Rs. 300 million to address vehicle requirements for the Sri Lanka Police, particularly in the Northern Province.
Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced the grant during the Cabinet press briefing held today (19). The funds will be allocated to supply vehicles needed to enhance the operational efficiency of police stations in the region.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sri Lanka and India to formalize the grant.
This initiative marks another step in the collaborative efforts between the two nations to strengthen public security and community welfare in Sri Lanka.
