The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, expressed confidence that the current government would ensure justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday bombings, emphasizing the importance of uncovering the truth behind the tragedy.
Speaking to reporters, the Cardinal remarked, “The government briefs us from time to time on the progress of the investigations,” highlighting the transparent nature of the probe.
He further stated, “This becomes evident from the conversations they have with us on the progress of the investigations,” adding his optimism that the perpetrators would ultimately be held accountable.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, shortly after assuming office, visited St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya, where he promised a renewed investigation into the devastating attacks.
The Cardinal’s remarks underscore a cautious optimism about the ongoing efforts to deliver justice and ensure accountability for the heinous acts that shook the nation.
