Security Concerns for Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa Amidst Death Threats

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly received death threats from ISIS terrorists and LTTE groups, according to Manoj Gamage, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Lawyers’ Association.

Gamage raised significant security concerns after the withdrawal of military personnel from Rajapaksa’s security detail. He criticized the Public Security Ministry’s decision to replace the remaining armed military personnel with police officers, calling this measure inadequate given the severity of the threats.

Furthermore, Gamage expressed apprehension that replacing highly trained military personnel with police staff could compromise the former President’s safety in light of these critical threats.
