Showery Weather to Persist in Several Provinces: Meteorology Department

The Department of Meteorology forecasts continued showery weather over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces in the coming days.

Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in these regions as well as in the Matale district, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm anticipated in parts of the Eastern and Uva provinces and the Matale and Polonnaruwa districts.

Elsewhere, showers or thundershowers are likely during the afternoon or night. Fairly heavy rainfall above 75 mm is expected in localized areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces.

Additionally, fairly strong winds ranging from 30-35 kmph may affect the Northern, Eastern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces.

Misty conditions are predicted in the morning for parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.

The Meteorology Department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
