Prime Minister Calls for Probe into Declining Classroom Attendance in Advanced Level Education

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who also serves as Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, has called for an in-depth investigation into the alarming trend of students pursuing Advanced Level education staying away from school.

During a visit to the Maharagama National Institute of Education, the Prime Minister expressed concern over the declining classroom attendance, particularly among boys. She emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue to ensure equitable educational opportunities for all children.

Dr. Amarasuriya stressed that no child should miss out on education due to social or economic challenges. She underscored the need for a supportive environment that guarantees 13 years of schooling and opportunities for higher education for every student.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of identifying and removing barriers preventing students from fully engaging in their studies. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building an inclusive education system that prioritizes the needs of every child.
