Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara’s Brother Further Remanded Over Alleged Financial Fraud

The brother of former Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, Thisara Iroshana Nanayakkara, has been ordered to remain in remand custody until January 11, 2025, following his appearance before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court.

Thisara Iroshana Nanayakkara was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on December 28, 2025, in connection with a complaint regarding alleged financial fraud.

The arrest was carried out in the Bibile area, as confirmed by police. The suspect was initially remanded until January 6, 2025, upon being presented in court.

According to police reports, Nanayakkara is accused of defrauding approximately Rs. 3 million from individuals by falsely promising employment opportunities in Finland.
