The government has announced its decision to reinstate the pension increase process, which was discontinued by the administration of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in 2020.
Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe stated that the adjustment will benefit government employees who retired between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2019.
He also confirmed that provisions for the pension increase have been included in the upcoming budget, signaling the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of retirees.
