President-elect Donald Trump will officially begin his second term as President of the United States with his inauguration on Monday, January 20. The ceremony marks the formal transfer of power from the Biden administration to the Trump administration.

Inauguration Schedule and Events:

  • Time: The ceremony is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. ET, with Trump’s swearing-in occurring at noon. Due to anticipated cold temperatures, the ceremony has been moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda instead of the originally planned West Front of the U.S. Capitol.
  • Event Highlights:
    • Musical Prelude: Performances by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Combined Choirs and “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band.
    • Invocation: Delivered by Timothy Cardinal Dolan and the Rev. Franklin Graham.
    • Vice Presidential Oath: Administered by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to JD Vance.
    • Performance: Country singer Carrie Underwood, along with the Armed Forces Chorus and U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club, will perform “America the Beautiful.”
    • Presidential Oath: Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath to President Trump.
    • Inaugural Address: President Trump will deliver his address following the oath of office.
    • Benediction and Closing Performances: A diverse group of religious leaders will provide a benediction, followed by the National Anthem performed by opera singer Christopher Macchio.

Ceremony Duration: The ceremony is expected to last approximately one hour, similar to previous inaugurations in 2017 and 2021.

Inaugural Theme: This year’s theme is “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise,” reflecting the solemnity and significance of the occasion.
