Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara to Provide Statement to CID

Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara’s attorney informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court that his client is prepared to provide a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding the matter of providing job opportunities for Sri Lankans in South Korea. The statement is scheduled to be given on January 21, as reported by Ada Derana.

Appearing on behalf of the former Foreign Employment Minister, President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris made the announcement during an anticipatory bail hearing on January 20. Nanayakkara had filed the bail application in anticipation of a possible arrest in connection with the matter.

President’s Counsel Peiris further requested the court to recall the petition at a later date to verify the facts, confirming that his client would provide the statement to the CID the following day.

As a result, the court has scheduled the bail application to be recalled on January 22 for the confirmation of facts.
