United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader Ravi Karunanayake today issued a clarification regarding a statement he made during a press conference yesterday.
In a special media statement, Karunanayake addressed the misunderstanding, explaining that his remarks had created the impression that he was the most senior member of the UNP. He clarified that he had meant to state that he is the most senior member after UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Karunanayake also expressed his regret to Wickremesinghe over the misinterpretation of his statement.
Furthermore, he alleged that certain individuals within the UNP are deliberately spreading misinformation to create difficulties for the party leader. He warned that those responsible for such actions would soon be exposed.
