President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Meets Nippon Foundation Chairman to Discuss Rural Development and Education

A meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Nippon Foundation Chairman Yōhei Sasakawa was held yesterday (07) at the Presidential Secretariat to discuss key development initiatives in Sri Lanka.

The President emphasized that eradicating rural poverty is the government’s top priority, expressing hope that such efforts would also lead to improvements in education.

Mr. Yōhei Sasakawa reaffirmed the Nippon Foundation’s commitment to public health, education, and the welfare of the differently abled community in Sri Lanka. He specifically highlighted the foundation’s focus on supporting educational development in Jaffna, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

President Dissanayake also noted that the government is set to launch special projects targeting rural poverty as part of its national development agenda. The meeting further emphasized strengthening bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Japan.
