The Election Commission convened this morning (Feb. 18) to discuss the Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill, which was passed in Parliament yesterday (Feb. 17).
However, the Commission has yet to receive the official Gazette notification confirming the bill’s enactment. The notification is expected to be issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
Once the Gazette is received, the Election Commission will proceed with determining the date for the Local Government Elections.
Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament officially endorsed the Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Act in the House today.
