The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has warned that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in most cities across Sri Lanka is expected to reach slightly unhealthy levels in the coming days.
According to its latest report, the AQI remained at moderate levels nationwide yesterday. However, for today (Feb. 18), AQI levels are forecasted to range between 44 and 90, indicating moderate air quality in all cities.
The NBRO further noted that air pollution levels are expected to deteriorate slightly in the next few days, with peak AQI levels occurring between 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Individuals sensitive to air pollution are advised to seek medical attention if they experience breathing difficulties.
