Ravi Karunanayake Urges President to Use Helicopters for Efficiency

Former UNP National Secretary and MP Ravi Karunanayake stated in Parliament today that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake should travel by helicopter instead of by land to maximize efficiency.

“He spends at least seven hours traveling by land to the North. It is a waste of valuable time that could be used for making crucial decisions. If the President travels by helicopter, he will have more time for governance,” Karunanayake remarked during the second reading of the budget.

He also criticized the government’s decision to revoke certain privileges for MPs, arguing that it has yielded little benefit.

“The Speaker’s official residence is next to my house, and it remains closed. What advantage does the country gain from this? Closing such residences only saves a few million rupees,” he emphasized.
