Sri Lanka Police Increases Rewards for Information on Illegal Firearms

The Sri Lanka Police have announced an increase in rewards for information leading to the recovery of illegal firearms and hand grenades, aiming to curb crime and enhance public safety.

As part of this initiative, police operations targeting illegal weapons are currently underway. The revised rewards include:

  • Rs. 1 million for the officer who arrests a suspect in possession of a T-56 rifle.
  • Rs. 750,000 for the private informant providing information leading to such an arrest.
  • Rs. 750,000 for the officer who recovers a T-56 without a suspect.
  • Rs. 500,000 for the private informant providing information on an unattended T-56.

The police emphasized that these measures are part of a broader strategy to create a safer environment for the public.
