A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) passenger bus traveling from Nikaweratiya to Colombo met with an accident this morning (17) in the Baththuluoya area, within the Arachchikattuwa police division.
The bus veered off the road, colliding with a tree, a shop, and a house, resulting in injuries to at least 21 passengers who have been hospitalized.
Additionally, an infant sleeping inside the affected house sustained injuries when a cupboard fell onto his bed due to the impact of the crash.
The injured individuals have been admitted to Chilaw and Mundalama hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Arachchikattuwa police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
