Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, has urged the government to avoid excessive spending on fuel for power generation amid the ongoing economic crisis.
Instead, he advocates for strengthening and promoting the renewable energy sector as a cost-effective solution.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake emphasized the need for a clear policy decision to manage electricity costs efficiently. However, he alleged that certain groups within the Ceylon Electricity Board are attempting to undermine the government’s renewable energy initiatives.
