The Election Commission has officially announced that the upcoming Local Government (LG) Elections in Sri Lanka will be held on May 6.
The acceptance of nominations for the elections concluded today (20) at 12:00 noon, following a nomination process that began on March 17 for 336 Local Government institutions. The election date was confirmed after the completion of the nomination period.
Additionally, the deadline for placing deposits for the elections ended yesterday (19). Earlier, the Election Commission had extended key election-related deadlines, with the official polling date set after the conclusion of the nomination process.
