Police have reported the arrest of 20 candidates contesting this year’s local government elections for violating election laws, along with 68 of their supporters.
A total of 198 complaints have been lodged with the police so far regarding election law violations and criminal activities linked to the elections.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has received 101 complaints in the past 24 hours, the majority of which relate to breaches of election laws.
Since the announcement of the local government elections, the total number of complaints received has risen to 1,591, with 9 cases reported involving acts of violence.
