The official door-to-door distribution of ballot papers for the upcoming local government elections begins today.
April 27 has been designated as a special day for the distribution of ballot papers.
Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara has stated that the distribution process is expected to be completed by April 29.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission confirmed that the distribution of ballot papers for postal voting will be completed by April 21.
Chairman of the Election Commission, R. M. A. L. Ratnayake, mentioned that in the event of a court ruling concerning a specific local government body, the distribution of postal ballots in that area will be delayed.
So far, ballot papers for postal voting have been distributed to 227 local government institutions, with the remaining 112 expected to receive theirs by April 21.
