A suspect has been arrested in Wellampitiya with a drug haul valued at over Rs. 200 million, police reported.
The arrest was made after a search of the suspect’s residence, conducted based on a tip-off. During the operation, officers seized 13 kilograms and 372 grams of heroin and 3 kilograms and 580 grams of ICE (crystal methamphetamine).
Police further stated that the suspect has previously faced charges related to drug offenses. Investigations have also revealed that the suspect was being manipulated by an imprisoned drug trafficker.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court Number Two today.
