The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has launched an investigation into the sudden death of a student at Sabaragamuwa University.
In an official statement, the Ministry noted that it is closely monitoring reports circulating on social media, which allege that the death may have resulted from a ragging-related incident.
The Ministry further stressed that if the investigation confirms ragging as the cause, strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken against those involved.
The deceased was a second-year student at the Faculty of Technology of Sabaragamuwa University.
