Sri Lanka welcomed a total of 174,608 tourists in April 2025, marking a 17.3% increase compared to March 2024, according to data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
With this, the cumulative number of tourist arrivals for the first four months of 2025 has reached 896,884, reflecting steady growth in the country’s tourism sector.
India remained the top source market in April, contributing 22.2% of the total arrivals with 38,744 visitors. The United Kingdom followed with 17,348 arrivals, while 13,525 tourists came from Russia. Germany and Australia also recorded significant numbers, with 11,654 and 10,744 visitors respectively.
Tourism authorities view this upward trend as a positive sign for the country’s economic recovery and ongoing promotional efforts in key international markets.
