The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers across most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m. today (May 9).
In its latest weather advisory, the department also noted that morning showers are possible in the Western Province as well as in the Puttalam, Galle, and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is expected in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern, and North-Central provinces.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Additionally, misty conditions are likely in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts during the morning hours.
