Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has attributed the party’s current challenges to the rigidity of certain members within its ranks.
Speaking at a media briefing, Karunanayake noted that internal issues are common across all political parties, but emphasized that opposition parties must now focus on working together.
He stressed the importance of forming a united front after the upcoming local government elections, warning that failure to do so could lead to the collapse of all opposition parties.
Karunanayake further called for the establishment of a new political culture aimed at advancing the country. He asserted that individuals working to undermine their own parties must be removed in order to foster unity and progress.
