A British woman arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, has been arrested by Sri Lanka Customs for attempting to smuggle a large consignment of Kush cannabis into the country.
The narcotics were discovered during a special raid carried out by the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs this afternoon (12), following a targeted inspection of the suspect’s luggage as she passed through Customs upon arrival.
Customs officials confirmed that the seized cannabis weighed a total of 46 kilograms, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs. 460 million.
The suspect and the confiscated narcotics have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation.
Sri Lanka Customs noted that this is one of the largest detections of Kush cannabis in recent times.
