The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP) have reached a preliminary agreement on forming administrations in local government bodies where the opposition holds a majority.
The agreement was made during a meeting held this morning (19) between representatives of both parties.
According to a joint statement issued by SJB General Secretary and Member of Parliament Ranjith Madduma Bandara, and UNP General Secretary and former Minister Thalatha Atukorale, the two parties discussed key policy matters related to establishing power in local councils.
As a result, the parties have agreed to jointly form administrations in several local government institutions, with the support of other opposition groups.
