The Road Development Authority (RDA) has issued a safety advisory urging motorists to exercise heightened caution when using expressways during periods of heavy rain.
R.A.D. Kahatapitiya, Deputy Director General of the RDA’s Expressway Operations and Maintenance Division, advised drivers to limit their speed to a maximum of 60 km/h in wet weather conditions to ensure road safety.
The advisory comes as several regions across the country continue to experience persistent rainfall, which increases the risk of accidents due to slippery road surfaces and reduced visibility.
