The Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka, based in Lunuwila, has announced that coconut production is expected to see an increase in May and June this year compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the Chairman of the Institute, last year’s coconut harvest totalled 477 million nuts. This year, the expected harvest is projected to reach approximately 555 million coconuts—a significant increase.
He also noted that the price of coconuts in areas surrounding the Coconut Triangle has remained stable, with a coconut selling at around Rs. 163.
