To Rebuild the Nation, the People Must Change Too – Ravi Karunanayake

Almost every major political party that emerged after independence has had a chance to govern Sri Lanka, says MP Ravi Karunanayake, former Deputy Leader of the United National Party.

In an interview with CeylonWire, Karunanayake emphasized that it is time to end the cycle of switching between opposition and government without meaningful progress.

He urged politicians to reflect on whether they have truly governed in the people’s interest, using the power inherited from the British to serve the nation effectively.

Highlighting the role of citizens in national development, Karunanayake stressed that real change requires a shift in mindset among the people as well.

“It’s time for people to stop expecting everything for free and start working hard to achieve progress,” he said.
