Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has emphasized that all opposition parties — not just the UNP — must come together in unity for the betterment of the country.
Speaking to the media, the MP expressed concern over the current state of the UNP, stating that two individuals are preventing longtime party members from contributing meaningfully.
“Due to the actions of these two individuals, senior members of the UNP have no space within the party. Everyone knows the damage they’ve caused,” Karunanayake said.
He further claimed that these individuals are acting to protect their own seniority and influence, rather than allowing the party to move forward with experienced leadership.
Karunanayake stressed that a united front among opposition parties is vital to navigate the challenges facing the nation and to restore public confidence in democratic governance.
