China Urges Citizens to Leave Israel Amid Escalating Conflict with Iran

China’s embassy in Israel on Tuesday (June 17) urged its citizens to leave the country “as soon as possible,” following a sharp escalation in hostilities between Israel and Iran.

In a statement published on its official WeChat account, the Chinese mission said, “The Chinese mission in Israel reminds Chinese nationals to leave the country as soon as possible via land border crossings, on the precondition that they can guarantee their personal safety.”

The embassy specifically recommended departing in the direction of Jordan.

The advisory comes in the wake of Israel’s surprise aerial campaign against multiple targets across Iran last week, part of a decades-long conflict fueled by deep strategic and ideological divisions. Israel stated that the strikes were aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—an allegation Tehran has consistently denied.

The flare-up has raised global concern about the possibility of a broader regional conflict. U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Iran to return to the negotiating table, after the attacks derailed fragile ongoing nuclear talks.

In its advisory, the Chinese embassy warned that the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate. “Much civilian infrastructure has been damaged, civilian casualties are on the rise, and the security situation is becoming more serious,” the statement said.

Beijing has consistently called for restraint from all parties and emphasized the need for diplomatic solutions in the Middle East.
