The Department of Meteorology announces that several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in a few areas of the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of 30–40 km/h are likely at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
