Intermittent Showers Expected in Multiple Regions Today, Says Met Department

The Department of Meteorology has forecast intermittent showers today (13) across several regions of the island.

Showers are expected at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara. The North-western Province may also experience several spells of rain throughout the day.

In addition, the Department noted that showers or thundershowers are likely in isolated areas of the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or evening hours.

Strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are also anticipated at times, particularly over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and North-central provinces.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
