Widespread Showers and Strong Winds Forecast Across Multiple Provinces Today

The Department of Meteorology has forecast intermittent showers across several parts of the country today (15), particularly affecting the Sabaragamuwa Province and the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara.

Additionally, several spells of rain are expected in the Western and North-Western provinces throughout the day.

Isolated showers or thundershowers are also likely in the Uva and Northern provinces, as well as in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.

The Met. Department further warned of strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph at times, especially across the western slopes of the central hills and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-Western, and North-Central provinces.

The public is urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate risks associated with temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
