Showers are expected at intervals today (18) in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department also stated that fairly heavy rainfall, exceeding 50mm, is likely in certain locations.
Several spells of showers are forecast in the Western and North-western provinces, while showers or thundershowers may occur in parts of the Uva, Northern, and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or night.
In addition, strong winds ranging between 40-50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and North-central provinces.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
