The Polonnaruwa High Court has sentenced four residents of Hingurakgoda’s Unagalavehera area to death for their involvement in a murder committed in 2006. The verdict was delivered by High Court Judge Ruchira Weliwatta.
The incident involved the fatal assault of a man who had gone to guard a paddy field. The convicted individuals, aged 64, 42, 37, and 49, were found guilty of participating in the attack that led to the victim’s death.
According to reports, six individuals were involved in the assault, two of whom have since passed away.
