Special Train Services Launched for Esala Perahera Pilgrims and Spectators

Sri Lanka Railways has announced the commencement of special train services starting today (August 4) to accommodate the large influx of pilgrims and spectators traveling to Kandy for the Esala Perahera Festival.

These special services will operate until August 8, covering key routes including Colombo Fort, Polgahawela, Matale, and Nawalpitiya.

The Esala Perahera, one of Sri Lanka’s most revered cultural and religious festivals, attracts thousands of local and international visitors each year.

The final Kumbal Perahera was held last night, while the first Randoli Perahera is scheduled to take place this evening.
