Long-Delayed Promotions for Over 5,000 Police Officers to Take Effect Next Month

The Ministry of Public Security has decided to grant long-pending promotions to police officers after a five-year delay.

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced that promotions will be awarded to officers serving in ranks ranging from Police Constable to Chief Inspector of Police.

The move, which will take effect next month, is expected to benefit more than 5,000 officers.

The Minister emphasized that the decision aims to provide opportunities for career advancement and professional growth within the police service.

He further noted that members of the Police Special Task Force (STF) will also be included in the promotion scheme.
