Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has said that the most effective way to address the country’s debt crisis is to strengthen the export sector.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake emphasized that boosting exports would make it easier to repay national debt. He added that the government should actively support and encourage exporters to achieve this goal.
The MP also criticized the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stating that it should not act as an obstacle to enhancing exports. He alleged that while the IMF claims to assist countries facing economic crises, it often operates with double standards.
