Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has urged party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to carefully reflect and take decisive steps to rebuild the party.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake noted that if the intention is to allow the party to collapse further, “that can be done easily.” However, he stressed that what is truly needed at this moment is for everyone to work together in unity.
He emphasized that the UNP has an undeniable legacy as the party that secured independence for Sri Lanka and played a major role in strengthening the nation’s economy.
Therefore, Karunanayake called on all members to set aside differences and come together to revive the party.
