Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has stressed that protecting electricity consumers must be the top priority in the restructuring process of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake said that without safeguarding the interests of consumers, no reform or restructuring effort would be meaningful.
He also pointed out that it is unacceptable to arbitrarily increase salaries on the basis that the CEB is a government institution.
Such practices, he warned, would reduce competition and disrupt operations, undermining the effectiveness of the restructuring process.
