Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has disclosed the reason behind the postponement of the party’s opposition convention.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake said the decision was taken due to the ill health of Party Leader and President Ranil Wickremesinghe, based on medical advice from his doctors.
He emphasized that the delay in holding the convention would not hinder opposition unity. On the contrary, he suggested it could even serve to strengthen the opposition.
The MP further highlighted the importance of unity among all parties and stressed the need to move forward while safeguarding the contributions of long-standing party members.
